The final part of my birthday trip was going to the zoo. The zoo is my favourite place in the world and I can't wait to go overseas and visit even more zoos.
We spent about 2 hours at the Wellington Zoo and thank god it was a nice day, because the first time we were planning on going, the day turned to shit once we got into Wellington. We started off at the kune kune pigs, otters and penguins. The pigs were the only animals out at the start so we wondered around looking at all the monkeys and then the lemurs and then the big cats.
Wellington zoo has a new lizard and spider part now that we also looked at. It kinda scared me, not so much the lizards, but when we got to the spiders, oh my god. The glass was all condensed so I couldn't get clear enough pictures of the spiders, but by golly gee whiz, were they huge and furry.
After that, we looked at the giraffes and the baboons, and walked through the Australian animal part. The kangaroos and wallabies now wonder free, in a closed of section of course, but roaming along the path that you follow. There was also tasmanian devils and dingoes (dingo ate my baby, ha!).
The only animals we didn't see were the tigers and the sun bears. We had run out of time so we had to go to get into the city by lunch. I was a little sad about that, but I got heaps of footage from the rest of the zoo, and got to stand/walk next to kangaroos. That was so the scariest part of the trip, walking along just checking out the tiny wallabies, then turning your head at there is a massive kangaroo just chilling right next to the path. My heart was pounding for the rest of the time we were at the zoo. It gave me such a fright!
I got plenty of footage and am currently editing it into a follow me style video for my youtube account. It will be up on Monday so keep an eye on any updates on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kaleidocoloursx
